This month patrons will be surprised to see that, while many of us were busy hibernating for the winter, The Tewksbury Country Club was working on an addition to the beloved Tew-Mac Tavern, redesigning the patio area and bringing in Executive Chef Elmer Scott to make the improvements complete.

So, how exactly do you take such a perfect place and make it even better?  Well, extra seating, a brand new piano and more windows than ever overlooking the spectacular scenery are among the highlights.  The Tew-Mac Tavern will take on a relaxing piano bar atmosphere featuring live entertainment on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings.  No rock bands at the tavern but, instead, one and two piece bands will add to the casual and affordable atmosphere that it is already known for.

The showpiece of The Tewksbury Country Club, the outdoor patio, has been redesigned to accommodate the larger tavern and, at the same time, provide the same reasonable prices and spectacular view of the country club property that patrons have already come to love.  Outdoor speakers will ensure that everyone can enjoy the entertainment no matter where they choose to sit.

As for the Executive Chef Elmer Scott, he couldn’t be more excited about his move to The Tewksbury Country Club.  “When I came here I was looking forward to a challenge and a new adventure,” Scott explained.  “I want to provide local customers with a chance to enjoy a new flair and technique right here in Tewksbury without having to leave and go to Boston.”

A member of the Tewksbury Country Club team since November of 2011, Chef Scott brings with him nearly ten years of experience including the Bedford Village Inn, The JFK School of government and The North Andover Country Club.   He has a diverse knowledge of culinary arts makes him the perfect addition to The Tew-Mac tavern.

With the warmer weather upon us and the patio scheduled to open on May 14th, Chef Scott is looking forward to the opportunities the new season will provide.  “I’m looking forward to lighter fares like fresh salads and veggies,” he explained.  “It’s a great chance to for me to enhance local growers too.”

Regulars to the Tew-Mac Tavern need not worry about their favorites however.  Sicilian Calamari, Spinach Caprese Salad, Hot Buttered Lobster Roll, Classic Reuben and the tavern’s famous Nantucket Salad are on the menu to stay.  Daily Chef’s specials, however, will change regularly and feature seasonal fresh items.

As always, The Tewksbury Country Club plans to keep the menu affordable and the atmosphere casual and family friendly.  Exceeding their customer’s expectations truly is and, will always be, top priority.
