Wolverines: 29 vs. Eagles: 21

The Wolverines hosted the Eagles in their seventh game of the season knowing that in order to remain perfect on the season they would need their best effort of the year. The highly talented Eagles came into the game with only one loss and as expected played tough hardnosed basketball throughout the game. But the Wolverines were equal to the task and through contributions from each player came away with a hard fought victory, 29-21. Alyssa Marchelletta led all Wolverine scorers with 11 points in the game, followed by Abby MacAllister (6), Emily Walker (4), and Brooke Woodman, Jessica Hickey, Nicole Potito and Olivia Paulding (2 pts each). Defense and rebounding keyed the victory for the Woverines. Hickey and Potito led the Wolverines in rebounds with 7 apiece, followed by Marchelletta and Paulding (4 each), MacAllister and Walker (3 each), and Woodman, Lexie Bobotas and Sarah Hunt (2 each). Walker was extremely aggressive and active on the defensive side of the court with 5 steals and 2 impressive blocked shots to go along with her rebounds and points. A solid win for the Wolverines as they look to keep improving each week.

Eagles: 23 vs. Wolverines: 29

The Eagles lost a tough, physical game 29 to 23 to the Wolverines on Saturday. It was a 1 point game going into the fourth period, but they were out scored 7 to 2 in the final period. The Eagles leading scorer was Madison Stovesand 13, Allie Indingaro 6, Megan Boudreau and Jaclyn Dillon each had 2. The guards Amanda Moreira, Catalina Burke, Rose Strobel, and Hannah Kocsmiersky all played great defense. Alyssandra Ragusa and Madison handled most of the rebounding effort.

Cardinals 17 Badgers 24

The Cardinals were hoping to get on the winning side today as they had a
tough loss last week. We started out great executing a new offensive play
we developed with Christina & Courtney Capachietti working nicely together
with give and go passes. Kristen Curley, Kylie Galvin, and Becca Langone
were also working hard on the press defense and helping breaking up Badger
offensive plays. Our second five came in ready to also make a difference.
The Cardinals again were great at finding the open girl- as Gabby Navarrete
hit a nice inside shot and drew a foul! Olivia Burns worked hard on her
defense scoring some key steals for us. Ava Piccolo and Bella Dematos as
well were key helping out with keeping us in the game. By half time we
were trailing 15-10. The third quarter is where the Badgers were
successful. Our Lady Cardinals were not making the best passes nor able to
convert on key passes with too many missed opportunities. We fought hard
in the fourth quarter, but the Badgers- playing with only six players, were
just able to find the open girl and then hit that shot. The Cardinals as
USUAL played with all heart and gave the game all they could. Rounding out
the scoring for our team were Ava Piccolo 5 points (Again hitting a key
three point basket), Courtney Capachietti with 4 points, Christina
Capachietti with two points from the foul line, Gabby Navarette with 2
points, and Kristen Curley with two points. We will work hard this week to
be ready for our next league game.

Huskies vs Wildcats

The Huskies vs Wildcats game was one of the best games of the season. Huskies were up by 12 at one point but the Wildcats tied the game at the buzzer with a 3 point shot putting the game in to overtime. Both teams played great. The huskies won in overtime with 12 seconds left to play. Coaches for the Huskies are so proud for how the team came together today.

Terriers vs. Cougars

The Terriers continue to work as a team with 6 players contributing baskets and all playing top-notch defense. Forwards Victoria Pinto (2pts) and Megan Geyer (4 pts) played well by putting in shots from the low posts and by protecting the key on defense. Abby Demos was again a defensive star, blocking several shots in the key and grabbing rebounds. Erica Hinkle used her speed to stop the Cougar fast breaks and to lead the Terrier breaks. Abby Hansbury (6pts) and Grace Dockery (6pts) helped kick-start the offense with layups off of forced turnovers. Michelle Hinkle (6pts) had some great passes to the forwards, while high scorer Kassidy MacDonald (8pts) made some nice shots from the outside.

Seniors

Sonics: 37 vs. Blazers: 26

The Sonics were able to hold off a late Blazers push to grab their 4th win of the season. Scoring was evenly balanced across the team with Marissa Ladderbush leading all Sonics scorers with 13. Julia Caffery and Rebecca DeFrancesco each added 8 points while Alexa Harrington and Amber Buttaro each added crucial baskets in the 4th quarter with 4 and 2 points. Janine Richardson grabbed a crucial offensive rebound in the 3rd quarter and followed up with a basket to avoid a missed offensive opportunity. Brooke Fullerton continues to be a presence down low grabbing several key rebounds and loose balls to keep the offense alive. Overall, it was a great game for the Sonics.

Juniors

Storm: 23 vs. Comets: 2

Storm improve to 4-2-1 on the season after an all team effort in yesterday’s 23-2 victory over the Comets. Excellent execution on both the defensive and offensive side of the court for Storm. Leading the team in scoring was Madelyn Montejo with (8 points, 2 Rebounds and 2 Steals) and Emily Tryder (6 points, 3 Rebounds and 2 Steals). Skylar Auth (the “Hawk”) on defensive had 7 steals along with 4 points. Darya Mehrabani was excellent on the boards, finishing with 7 rebounds, 2 points and 5 steals. Brooklyn DeGrechie (2 points, 2 Rebounds and 3 steals), Cassidy Paige (4 steals and 1 rebound), Jocelyn Kinnon (2 steals), and Dakota Malizia (1 point, 4 steals and 1 rebound) all did fantastic jobs. Storm is improving each week and the coaches are very proud of the hustle each girl gives at practice and at the game!
