Tewksbury Has Several Events To Mark Earth Week

The week ends with the Town Clean Up Day on May 4.

  • Saturday, April 20- 10:00-11:00AM- iNaturalist City Challenge Learn how to use the iNaturalist app to track animals, plants and insects in Tewksbury as we get ready to compete with other towns for the most recorded sightings. Will you be the one to find a rare salamander? Free: Tewksbury Public Library

  • Wednesday, May 1-7:00PM-Beyond Plastic Bags: Reduce, Reuse And Recycle For A Better Planet The Town has made an important step in improving the environment by passing a plastic bag ban, yet there is still a lot more that each resident can do to improve the environment by cutting down on waste. Julia Greene, Municipal Assistance Coordinator from the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection will lead a discussion on what waste is, how to cut down on it, and how to recycle correctly. Julia will give practical advice on how to reduce, re-use and recycle in your day to day life that really makes an impact on the environment. Free: Tewksbury Public Library
  • Friday, MAY 3 6:30—8:00PM Environmental Short Documentaries Enjoy a screening of two short documentaries on the environment. Straws (33 mins) spotlights plastic straw litter and how we can make a sea of change one straw at a time. Facing the Surge (26 mins) examines the costs of sea level rise in Norfolk, VA, a community on the frontline of climate change. A brief discussion will take place after each film where audience members can share their reactions. Free: Tewksbury Public Library
