Tewksbury Helping Local Mom Battle Cancer

Tewksbury is staying #HeatherStrong for a wonderful mother of two. Consider donating and attending this month's fundraiser.

TEWKSBURY, MA — A local mother of two fighting pancreatic cancer is not giving up. And Tewksbury isn't giving up either.

Heather Pilkington Sullivan had a mastectomy last year to prevent cancer. She diagnosed in January with pancreatic cancer. She has recently had surgery to remove the cancer and is starting chemotherapy.

Friends and family are rallying around Heather to support her in a time of need. A GoFundeMe has raised nearly $8,000 as of Wednesday night, but still has a ways to go toward goal. You can learn more about Heather's situation and donate here. (Subscribe to Tewksbury Patch and like us on Facebook to keep up on local news and updates.)

"She is always thinking about others," the GoFundeMe says. "Her kindness, humor, courage and strength always shine even on her darkest days."

There will be a HeatherStrong fundraiser June 30 at the Knights of Columbus. The fundraiser will go from 7-11 p.m. and tickets cost $20. You can purchase online here.
