Adult Events
Summer Author Series: Valerie Giglio (“Singing In My Own Key”) (*RR) - Thursday, July 13, 7pm
Author Valerie L. Giglio will discuss her new book, Singing In My Own Key: A Vocalist's Triumph Over Stroke. After sharing her inspirational story, Giglio will perform a 30-minute concert for attendees. Giglio, a local up-and- coming professional vocalist with two CDs to her name, recently suffered a near fatal stroke that turned her world upside down. Completely paralyzed on one side, confined to a wheelchair, and with her signing voice stolen from her at the height of her career, Giglio was devastated. But with fierce determination and fortitude, she faced down every setback and obstacle in her path. Overcoming paralysis and regaining her singing voice, Giglio returned to the stage just a year after her stroke. Q&A and book selling and signing after the event for those interested. Limited to 75 seats.

Summer Film Series: The Lost City Of Z (*RR) - Friday, July 14, 8:30pm
Enjoy a screening of one of Hollywood's newest DVD releases -- The Lost City Of Z, an action adventure starring Charlie Hunnam and Robert Pattinson. A true-life drama, centering on British explorer Col. Percival Fawcett, who disappeared while searching for a mysterious city in the Amazon in the 1920s. Rated PG-13. Doors will open 15 minutes early. Candy and water will be served. Can’t make it at 8:30pm? The library will also screen the film at 12:30pm. Limited to 75 seats.

Tewksbury Job Seekers: How To Improve Your Interview Skills (*RR) - Monday, July 17, 2pm
Are you nervous about interviewing? Learn effective strategies so that you will be prepared to make a great first impression, answer the hard-hitting questions effectively, and always stay in the running through the application and interview process. There will also be a short discussion on resume writing. Led by Tom Falzareno, currently a business development director for Cytel, a Drug Development CRO. There will be time for networking after the presentation. Limited to 25 seats.
Summer Concert Series: Hungrytown (*RR) - Monday, July 17, 7pm
Enjoy a one-hour concert with Hungrytown on the library's event lawn. The folk duo, consisting of singer-songwriter Rebecca Hall and multi-instrumentalist/arranger Ken Anderson, will provide you with a wonderful night of acoustic-based music. After more than a decade of world-wide touring and three album releases, the Vermont pair are known for their beautiful arrangements and remarkable vocal harmonies that speak to the heart and soul. CDs available for purchase after the concert for those interested. Bring your own chairs or blankets.
Tech Tuesdays: How To Download Free Music with Hoopla (*RR) - Tuesday, July 18, 2pm
Become a library power user! Learn how to download free music with Hoopla, a free online service offered to Tewksbury residents through the Boston Public Library. Demonstrations, videos, handouts and Q&A will be included. Please note this is NOT a hands-on session, but participants will leave ready to set up an account and start using Hoopla on their own. Limited to 10 seats.
Summer Lecture Series: Henna Tattoos with Manisha Trivedi (*RR) - Tuesday, July 18, 7:30pm
Manisha Trivedi, a professional henna artist from Henna Cafe, will explain the art and history of mehndi, more widely known as henna tattooing. Each attendee will leave with their own henna tattoo. Attendees will receive tattoos in order in which they arrive. Limited to just 15 seats.
Adult Crafternoon (*RR) - Wednesday, July 19, 1:30pm
Calling all knitters, crocheters, needle workers, beaders, and colorers! Bring your own craft project to the Library and work on it while enjoying conversation with other crafters. (Please, no crafts involving glue or paint.) Take advantage of the many books available at the library to get ideas for your next project or to explore a new craft.
Summer Living History Series: An Evening with Henry David Thoreau (*RR) - Wednesday, July 19, 7pm
Enjoy a one-hour performance from actor Richard Smith as he portrays Henry David Thoreau. Return to 1855 for an evening of Transcendental entertainment as Henry David Thoreau delivers his lecture"Walking or, The Wild". After the lecture, Mr. Thoreau will take questions from the audience for an entertaining and lively discussion. Richard Smith is the Thoreau Society's in-house historian and regularly performs at Walden Pond. He also serves as a tour guide for the Concord Tour Company. Bring your own chairs or blankets. In the case of inclement weather, the performance will be held in the library's Fairgrieve Wing.
Tewksbury News Discussion Group (*RR) - Thursday, July 20, 12:30pm
Do you enjoy talking about town topics? Want to learn more about what’s going on in Tewksbury? Attend these monthly meetings to review the month's major local news stories. All attendees will receive a free issue of the latest Town Crier. Limited to 20 seats.
Summer Author Series: Michael Anthony (&Civilianized&) (*RR) - Thursday, July 20, 7pm
Author Michael Anthony will discuss his new book, Civilianized: A Young Veteran's Memoir. After twelve months of military service in Iraq, Anthony was happy to return home, but suddenly found himself searching for meaning in a rapidly destabilizing world. He quickly began abusing drugs and alcohol, getting into fights with loved ones and strangers, and seriously contemplating suicide. Anthony openly shares his dark struggles with the hopes that Americans come to better understand the difficulties veterans face when they return to civilian life. He is also the author of the critically acclaimed book, Mass Casualties: A Young Medic's True Story of Death, Deception, and Dishonor in Iraq. He has written about veteran issues for several publications, including as the feature writer and editor of the "Wars and Veterans" section of the Good Men Project. Q&A and book selling and signing after the event for those interested. Limited to 75 seats.
Summer Film Series: Kong – Skull Island (*RR) - Friday, July 21, 8:30pm
Enjoy a screening of one of Hollywood's newest DVD releases -- Kong -- Skull Island, an action adventure starring Tom Hiddleston and Samuel L. Jackson. A team of scientists explore an uncharted island in the Pacific, venturing into the domain of the mighty Kong, and must fight to escape a primal Eden. Rated PG-13. 118 minutes. Doors will open 15 minutes early. Candy and water will be served. Can’t make it at 8:30pm? The library will also screen the film at 12:30pm. Limited to 75 seats.

Mother Goose Rhyme Time - Thursday, July 13, 10:30am
Join Miss Noelle and Miss Heather for songs, stories, fingerplays, instruments, dancing and more. For ages 0 to 3. Older siblings are always welcome.
Family Fun Days: Fairy Houses - Friday, July 14, 11am
This week’s Family Fun Friday is Fairy Houses! Join us to build tiny houses fit for a fairy! We'll be using all natural materials so that when we're done, we can leave the houses in the grass for the fairies to enjoy. For all ages.
Maker Mondays - Monday, July 17, 2pm
Come make something at the library this afternoon! We make something different each Monday. Drop in any time during the session to make this week’s project. For ages 5 to 11.
Preschool Story Time - Tuesday, July 18, 11am
Join Miss Noelle for stories, songs, dancing, instruments and more in this early literacy session. For ages 3 to 6. Older or younger siblings are always welcome.
SMArts Club (*RR) - Tuesday, July 18, 2pm
For entering grades 2 to 5 (ages 7 to 11) Join us each session for new and fun projects in science, technology and engineering! For kids entering Grades 2 to 5. Limited to 15. Call the Children's Desk at 978-640- 4496 to register.
Birds of Prey Show (*RR) - Wednesday, July 19, 11am
Join the fabulous Wingmasters as they bring in their LIVE bird show! You'll learn about and get to meet many different birds of prey including hawks and owls who live right here in our area! Space is limited. A ticket is required for admittance. FREE tickets are available at the Children's Desk beginning on July 10. Limit of 6 tickets per person. Every "body" coming into the room needs a ticket-- adults included! For ages 6 to 11.
Drop In Toddler Craft - Thursday, July 20, 10:30am-11:30am
Come make a fun craft with us today! Drop in any time during the hour to create a craft project. For 2 year olds (ages 18 months and up).
Movie Matinee: Sing! - Thursday, July 20, 2pm
Bring your blankets, pillows, sleeping bags and other comfy stuff and spread out in our air conditioned library and enjoy a matinee! Snacks are welcome. In a city of humanoid animals, a hustling theater impresario's attempt to save his theater with a singing competition becomes grander than he anticipates even as its finalists'; find that their lives will never be the same. Rated PG. 108 minutes. For all ages.
Family Fun Days: Teddy Bear Picnic - Friday, July 21, 11am
This week’s Family Fun Friday is Teddy Bear Picnic! Come on down for some fun with your favorite stuffed animal! We'll have face painting, a check-up station for your animal, and more! For all ages.
Teen Events
Henna Tattoos For Teens (*RR) - Tuesday, July 18, 6pm
Learn about the art and history of mehndi - henna tattooing! Manisha Travedi, a professional henna artist from Henna Cafe, will come to the Library to share the art of henna with teens. Come to the library for your own henna design! Teens are required to have a permission slip signed by their parent/legal guardian. Parents may sign the permission slip at the event contact the Teen Librarian to request a permission slip to print & sign at home.
Teen Open Mic Night (*RR) - Wednesday, July 19, 5:30pm
Teens, share a talent at our Open Mic Night! You can sing, share a poem, read a speech, perform a dramatic reading, perform a short play, do some magic, or other talents that I may not be thinking of! Just keep it appropriate and less than 7 minutes. 15 performance spots are available, sign up at the library! This event is open to those in grades 6 through 12.
Teen Game Time Hang Time - Friday, July 21, 3pm
Stop by the Library & hang out. Enjoy Wii U, PS4 and Xbox games, as well as board games, fun activities, and snacks!
