Tewksbury Library Hosts "Must-See Movie Nights"
Coming Attractions: Waiting For Superman, The Fighter, and The King's Speech

The Tewksbury Public Library holds "Must-See Movie Nights" on the fourth Tuesday night of the month, featuring Hollywood’s latest releases.
On Tuesday, February 22 at 5:45pm, Waiting For Superman (PG) will be screened. Directed by Davis Guggenheim, this critically acclaimed documentary won Best Documentary at last year's Sundance Festival.
Summary: Waiting for Superman examines the crisis of public education in the United States through multiple interlocking stories—from a handful of students and their families whose futures hang in the balance, to the educators and reformers trying to find real and lasting solutions within a dysfunctional system.
On Tuesday, March 22 at 5:45pm, The Fighter (R) will be screened. Directed by David O. Russell, this Oscar-nominated film stars Mark Wahlberg, Christian Bale, and Amy Adams.
Summary: Based on a true story, two brothers, against all the odds, come together to train for a historic title bout that has the power to reunite their fractured family and give their hard-luck town what it's been waiting for: pride. Micky Ward (Wahlberg) is a struggling boxer long overshadowed by his older brother and trainer, Dicky (Bale), a local legend battling his own demons. Their explosive relationship threatens to take them both down - but the bond of blood may be their only chance for redemption.

On Tuesday, April 26 at 5:45pm, The King’s Speech will be screened. Directed by Tom Hopper, this Oscar-nominated film stars Colin Firth and Geoffrey Rush.
Summary: Candidates for president and prime minister choose to run, but kings rarely have a choice. Such was the case for Prince Albert, known by family members as Bertie (Colin Firth), whose stutter made public speaking difficult. Upon the death of his father, George V (Michael Gambon), the crown went to Bertie's brother, Edward VIII (Guy Pearce), who abdicated to marry divorcée Wallis Simpson. All the while, Bertie and his wife, Elizabeth (Helena Bonham Carter), try to find a solution to his stammer. Nothing works until they meet Australian émigré Lionel Logue (Geoffrey Rush), a failed actor operating out of a threadbare office. He believes Bertie's problem stems from emotional rather than physiological issues, leading to a clash of wills. All their efforts, from the tense to the comic -- Bertie doesn't stutter when he swears -- lead to the speech King George VI must make to the British public on the eve of World War II. At a time when his country needs him the most, he can't afford to fail.
For all “Must-See Movie Nights,” doors open at 5:30pm. Movies begin at 5:45pm sharp. These are drop-in events. (No registration or tickets are required.) Seating is limited. Popcorn and lemonade will be provided at no charge. Moviegoers may bring their own snacks.
These movie nights are FREE thanks to the generosity of the Friends of the Tewksbury Public Library and the Tewksbury Lions Club.
