We have several types of owls in our suburban landscape, though most folks rarely see them. Barbara Bates from Mass Audubon Habitat Sanctuary will discuss these owls, sharing slides, sounds, and specimens of owls found in Massachusetts. Feel this stealth predator’s wings to learn how they fly so silently. Look at a skull to understand why they can hunt so well by sound alone. Join Julie Kelley, co-owner of Tewksbury Honey, to learn all about beekeeping -- the amazing lives of bees; beehives; problems with colonies; honey production; and the importance of pollination. Did you know that pollinators are directly responsible for 33% of our food supply? Kelley will discuss what can be done to help the honey bee population survive and thrive! The Kelley family -- Julie, her husband Mike and children Kathryn and Sean -- own and maintain 40 hives around Tewksbury, including two on the grounds of the Tewksbury Public Library. The honey generated from the hives at the library will be donated to the Tewksbury Community Pantry. Tewksbury Honey sells honey and honey products online and at several area Farmers Markets. For young children ages 0 to 18 months. Older siblings are always welcome to join in! Join us for a fun session of stories, songs, fingerplays, instruments, and gentle movement that help build early literacy skills. Please note, we have 2 sessions that are the same, one is at 10:15am and the other is at 11:00am.

A group where teens from any political party or belief system can come to have a civil discussion about current topics in the media or our community. We will look at different articles, videos or other sources to gain knowledge prior to our discussion. Each month we will go over tips and ground rules for having a civil conversation. Teens who participate will receive an hour of community service. Snacks will be provided if teens register at least a day prior to the program. Register HERE.
