Children's author and illustrator Doug Sirois ("The Path") will offer helpful advice and inspiration to those who have ever thought about writing or illustrating a picture book. He'll discuss how he broke into the worlds or writing and illustration, and what motivated him to write his first children's book. Sirois will take readers through each step of his book's development, from concept to self-publication. Sirois received a BFA in Illustration from the Art Institute of Boston and a Master of Fine Arts in Illustration from CalState. He has served as an adjunct professor at Lesley University College of Art and Design and the New Hampshire Institute of Art. Sirois has been a freelance illustrator for nearly 15 years -- working as a digital painter for comics and illustrated novels (including Dark Horse Comics & IDW Comics); serving as an art designer and sketch artist for television shows (including Game of Thrones); creating package design for toy companies; and designing blu-ray and DVD cover art. After discussion and a reading, a Q&A and book selling/signing will follow for those interested. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library, in cooperation with Valley Collaborative. Register HERE.
