Introduction To Yoga Therapy

Want to create a shift in your life in this new year but don’t know where to start? The answer is within you! Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy (PRYT) allows you to tell your story -- to discover and manage what is happening now in your life. During this workshop, you get to sample PRYT which combines yoga postures and dialogue to help you connect to your mind, body, and breath. When you access your inner wisdom, you gain clarity what your whole self needs. Led by Swetha Kannan, a Tewksbury resident who has been teaching YIN yoga for two years and practicing yoga for 13 years. Swetha was inspired by Krishnamacharya’s one-one yoga instruction and studied at the Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy School. She graduated from her 500-hour yoga teacher training in 2017. Non-Fiction Book Group: The Greater Journey

Join us for a discussion of The Greater Journey: Americans in Paris by David McCullough. The best-selling author of 1776 tells the story of the generations of American artists, writers, and doctors who traveled to Paris--the intellectual, scientific, and artistic capital of the western world; fell in love with the city and its people; and changed America through what they learned there. Lunchtime Lecture: How To Become A Children’s Picture Book Author & Illustrator

Children's author and illustrator Doug Sirois ("The Path") will offer helpful advice and inspiration to those who have ever thought about writing or illustrating a picture book. He'll discuss how he broke into the worlds or writing and illustration, and what motivated him to write his first children's book. Sirois will take readers through each step of his book's development, from concept to self-publication. Sirois received a BFA in Illustration from the Art Institute of Boston and a Master of Fine Arts in Illustration from CalState. He has served as an adjunct professor at Lesley University College of Art and Design and the New Hampshire Institute of Art. Sirois has been a freelance illustrator for nearly 15 years -- working as a digital painter for comics and illustrated novels (including Dark Horse Comics & IDW Comics); serving as an art designer and sketch artist for television shows (including Game of Thrones); creating package design for toy companies; and designing blu-ray and DVD cover art. Learn about the best hobby you've never heard of! Letterboxing combines treasure hunts, hiking, collecting things, arts and crafts, and adventure into one awesome pastime that is great for all ages. Boxes are hidden all over the world; by following clues, you can find thousands of unique, hand-carved stamps inside, which you can then stamp into a logbook. Join us to find out more about letterboxing, and give it a try with a special indoor stamp hunt. There will be a presentation about how to letterbox from 1 to 2 p.m., followed by an indoor, Harry Potter-themed hunt and Harry Potter festivities for all ages at 2pm. Register HERE.

Tiny Tykes Story Time

For young children ages 0 to 18 months. Older siblings are always welcome to join in! Join us for a fun session of stories, songs, fingerplays, instruments, and gentle movement that help build early literacy skills. Please note, we have 2 sessions that are the same, one is at 10:15am and the other is at 11:00am. There is no registration, however, there is limited space in the room. Please check in at the Children's desk upon arrival to check to see if there is still room available in the session.

Preschool Story Time

Drop-In Messy Craft

For ages 2-6. Older and younger siblings are always welcome. Join us in this new program to explore different messy crafts! We'll have paint, stamps, shaving cream, and Play-Doh available to play with and have fun. While we have smocks available, we encourage wearing old clothes just in case. No registration required.
