Tewksbury Man Arrested, Charged With Drunk Driving, B&E

BILLERICA, MA — Billerica police arrested Michael Callanan, 43, of Tewksbury, Tuesday night. He was charged with operating under the influence (second offense), for liquor, assault/battery of a police officer, breaking and entering in the night time, and resisting arrest. Billerica Deputy Police Chief Roy Frost said officers responded to a call from a large apartment complex on Kenmar Dr. in Billerica of a person "trying to get in" the caller's apartment, around 10 p.m..

Callanan was found in his vehicle, which "he had disabled .. by driving it up onto some rocks," said Frost. "He was determined to be highly intoxicated, and he was uncooperative on the scene."

Callanan was being arraigned in Lowell District Court Wednesday morning, said Frost.
