Tewksbury Man Arrested, Charged With Drug Trafficking

A 27-year-old Tewksbury man was charged with trafficking over 18 grams of methamphetamine.

TEWKSBURY, MA — Tewksbury police arrested a Tewksbury man Thursday and charged him with drug trafficking and possession, the department said.

Ryan McAteer, 27, was charged with trafficking over 18 grams of methamphetamine, possession of a class A substance and two counts of possession of a class E substance.

Police detectives received a tip about a large amount of meth in a room at the Holiday Inn at 4 Highwood Drive. They obtained a search warrant and found about 31 grams of methamphetamine and prescription medications, according to the police narrative.

McAteer was staying in the room and was present when police searched the room, the police said.

McAteer was arraigned at Lowell District Court, Wednesday. He was held on $2,500 cash bail and is due back in court on Tuesday for a probable cause hearing.

All people are considered innocent until proven guilty.
