Tewksbury Man Charged With OUI Following Crash: Police

A Tewksbury man is facing charges after his pickup struck a utility pole early Friday morning.

TEWKSBURY, MA — A Tewksbury man has been charged with driving under the influence following a crash early Friday morning, according to police. Joshua Christian, 24, was charged with operating under the influence of liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and marked lanes violation.

Police responded to a report of a car striking a telephone pole in the area of 417 North St. at about 1 a.m. Friday. Officers arrived and found a telephone pole that was broken and hanging over the northbound travel lane on North Street, and a red pickup truck on the side of the road with the airbags deployed.

Officers removed the driver, identified as Christian, from the truck.

He was not injured in the crash.

Christian later failed a field sobriety test, police said.

He was expected to be arraigned Friday in Lowell District Court.
