An Ipswich man killed last weekend in a helicopter crash in Montana is a Tewskbury native, the Lowell Sun is reporting.
The accident occurred just after 5 p.m. Sunday, when the one-person “Mosquito,” an ultra-light helicopter manned by 62-year-old John Joseph Maliszewski of Ipswich, crashed into a hillside, according CBS Boston.

According to the Lowell Sun, Maliszewski grew up in Tewksbury and was a graduate of Tewksbury Memorial High School.
The accident is being investigated by the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration.

The Boston Globe reported that while the NTSB hasn’t issued a full report on the actual cause of the crash, it may have been caused by the pilot’s loss of control, along with his limited flying experience with the helicopter.
