Tewksbury Native Sodergren Makes College Decision
The hockey star will begin his collegiate career locally.

TEWKSBURY, MA — A Tewksbury-based hockey star will be returning to the area after a stint in Canada to play his collegiate hockey.
Connor Sodergren, 20, announced on Twitter Monday that he has committed to play hockey at UMass Lowell. The Tewksbury native has been playing with the West Kelowna Warriors Junior 'A' Hockey Club for the past two seasons.

The Lowell Sun reports that Sodergren had originally committed to play at Army, but decommitted earlier this month. The 6 foot, 190-pound forward helped lead the Warriors to the RBC Cup National Championship last season, scoring eight goals and tallying 30 points during the regular season.

“Connor is a complete 200 foot player that is hard to play against every night,” commented Warriors general manager and head coach Rylan Ferster in an article on the team's website, “His work ethic is second to none.”
The Tewksbury native played his prep hockey at St. Paul's in Concord, NH, before heading off to Canada.

“I’m excited for the opportunity to play at a school so close to home,” stated Sodergren on the team's website, “I’m thankful for everyone who has helped me get there.”
