Tewksbury Offers Tips On Verifying Census Takers

Census Bureau field representatives must present photo ID with a Department of Commerce watermark.

TEWKSBURY, MA — Worried that someone at your door claiming to be a census taker might not be? The town of Tewksbury shared tips Friday on verifying the identity of Census Bureau field representatives. 2020 is a decennial census year, so field representatives will begin visiting homes in April for quality check interviews. They will conduct visits in mid-May to help collect responses.

Census takers must show a photo ID badge, with a Department of Commerce watermark and an expiration date. Field representative credentials can be verified here. Census workers may also carry a Census Bureau phone, laptop or bag.

This link shows where census workers' coverage territories. You can also call 800-991-2520 to speak with a Regional Census Bureau representative if you still have concerns.
