Tewksbury Patrolman Promoted to Sergeant

The new sergeant has been a Tewksbury police officer since 2010, and was previously a dispatcher for the Bedford police department.

TEWKSBURY, MA — A Tewksbury police patrolman was promoted to the rank of Sergeant Wednesday evening, Police Chief Timothy Sheehan announced.

Newly-minted sergeant Michael Newcomb was promoted from the rank of Patrolman at a swearing-in ceremony at the Tewksbury Police Department Wednesday night. Newcomb has served on the force in Tewksbury since 2010 and served for eight years as a dispatcher with the Bedford Police Department.

"I am very proud of our newest Sergeant as he represents the highest standards of modern law enforcement and the finest traditions of the Tewksbury Police Department," Sheehan wrote in his statement."The future of the Tewksbury Police Department just got brighter."

Newcomb is also one of the TPD's field training officers, and has earned multiple awards during his career.

He was the recipient of the TPD's Exceptional Performance in Law Enforcement award in 2013, 2014 and 2015, and also received the AAA Traffic Safety Hero Award in 2014. Newcomb holds a master's degree in criminal justice from Southern New Hampshire University.
