Tewksbury PD: 4 Holiday Weekend Drunk Drivers, Several Crashes
Fortunately, there were no fatalities, police said.
TEWKSBURY, MA — Tewksbury police made four arrests with charges of operating under the influence of alcohol over the Thanksgiving long weekend, they said Monday. They also placed three people in "in protective custody due to inebriation," and said that several car crashes involved drunk driving.
"With so many alternative solutions to driving impaired, there really is no justification for these incidents that could have been avoided," the department said in a Facebook post.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Thanksgiving holiday period is one of the most dangerous holidays for car crashes. From 2013 to 2017, more than 800 people died in drunk-driving crashes during the Thanksgiving holiday period.

Alcohol is alleged to be a contributing factor for several vehicle crashes this holiday weekend. TPD arrested 4 individuals for OUI alcohol and 3 more people had to be placed in protective custody due to inebriation. We are very fortunate that there were no fatalities.
