TEWKSBURY, MA -- Tewksbury Police arrested three men on drug charges Monday, but not before one of them tried to flee in a car. During an investigation into suspected drug dealing, police stopped a car at Stadium Plaza on Main Street. While Alberto Perez, 53, homeless and Herman H. Rivera, 41, of Lawrence, exited the vehicle, Douglas Grasso, 33, of Georgetown, fled in the car.

Grasso was arrested a short distance away after he crashed the car into a snowbank near the Interstate 495 on-ramp. Police searched the car and found heroin. Grasso was charged with failure to stop for police, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, intent to distribute heroin and conspiracy to violate the drug laws.

Perez and Rivera were charged with intent to distribute heroin and conspiracy to violate the drug laws. All three were scheduled to be arraigned in Lowell District Court Tuesday.
