There's been an increase in reports of scammers impersonating police officers.

TEWKSBURY, MA — Tewksbury police are warning residents about an uptick in phone scams.

There has been an increase in reports from residents who have received messages where the caller is attempting to impersonate our officers. The message states the call is regarding “time sensitive legal matters” and when the call is returned it sounds official, however this is a SCAM.

Police departments will never call you on the phone demanding money to resolve any legal issue or ask for money period. This is not a new scam but when they occur, they usually come in waves, and we want you to be aware.
