Tewksbury Police Recruit Graduates from Lowell Academy
The recruit officer has served in Afghanistan and has been a member of the Army National Guard since 2009.

TEWKSBURY, MA — A Tewksbury police recruit has graduated a recruit officer from the 2016 Lowell Police Academy Friday morning.
Incoming officer Joe Mendonca graduated at 10 a.m. Friday after an intensive 24-week academy program hosted by the Lowell and Cambridge police departments, according to a TPD release. Mendonca has been a member of the Army National Guard since 2009 and was deployed to Afghanistan with his unit in 2014.
"We are very proud of his service to our great nation and have extremely high hopes and expectations for him here at Tewksbury Police Department," the release stated.

Mendonca will now begin the TPD's comprehensive 12-week Field Training program.
