IN PERSON: Outdoor Concert with Abraxas (Santana Tribute Band)

Monday, August 17, 6pm

Enjoy a concert from the popular Santana Tribute Band, Abraxas. Celebrate the golden era of Carlos Santana's music. This tribute band has meticulously crafted a show that celebrates the legacy of Santana's unique blend of Latin-infused rock, blues, and jazz fusion. With an impressive repertoire that spans the entirety of Santana's career, from the classic hits to the deep cuts, Abraxas delivers a performance that is both authentic and electrifying. No registration required. This concert will take place on the library's back lawn. Attendees should bring their own chairs or blankets. Please park in the library's parking lot or in the grass field across from the library. Do NOT park on Hospital Road. In case of inclement weather, the concert will be rescheduled. To supplement the cost of next year's concerts, the Friends of the Library will be selling raffle tickets and accepting donations at a table near the stage.

IN PERSON: Celebrate 250 -- Revolutionary War Battles & The Poems They Inspired (*RR)

Patriots went to war to win freedom. Poets went to work to praise them, and to express the spirit of independence and the valor that created our nation. Review some key battles of the American Revolution – the people, the tactics and outcomes – and follow each battle review with an historic poem that expresses the emotion and devotion of the soldiers. Thus, alongside facts, experience the energy and enthusiasm that made America. Also get a look at 18th Century weapons, camp practices, home lives and backgrounds of soldiers. Physical props, plus projections that show maps, paintings and other illustrations, make the factual, historic aspects of the presentation easier to grasp and appreciate. Battles covered include Lexington and Concord, Bunker Hill, Trenton and others. Poems such as “Molly Maguire at Monmouth” and Longfellow’s “Paul Revere’s Ride” bring the emotion of the conflicts to life. The program is an enjoyable balance between important events in America’s founding, and the words they stirred. Led by poet Jeffrey Zygmont.

IN PERSON: MassHire Lowell Mobile Career Center

The MassHire Lowell Mobile Career Center is returning to Tewksbury! On Wednesdays beginning July 1, the Mobile Career Center will be parked outside the library from 10:30AM-2:30PM to help job seekers. The MassHire Lowell Mobile Career Center is a mobile bus unit that has been equipped with solar panels to power workstations within the bus to allow for Career Center services to hit the road to all of our local communities, cities and towns. It will provide information on: Career Services; Current Training Programs; Job Search Events; and Hiring Events. No registration is required. In the event of severe weather, the event may be cancelled or cut short.

The Tewksbury Community Market takes place on Thursdays, from 4pm to 7pm, from June 4, 2026 to September 24, 2026, in the parking lot behind the Tewksbury Recreation Center at Livingston St. Park (288 Livingston Street). The market has 70 vendors overall, with 30-35 vendors present on any given week. Each week's lineup of vendors is listed on the Market's website. What is a Broadway Diva? There are many attributes that define “Diva,” and we will discuss them all with clips of the multi-talented, larger-than-life divas of Broadway. Watch and dissect some of the performances of some of the most famous divas, with a focus on Patti LuPone, Glenn Close, Mary Martin, and Carol Channing, among others. Led by musical and film historians Sam and Candy Caponegro, who are passionate about music and movies. For over thirty years, they have acted, directed, and produced professional, community, and school theater. Candy’s most notable professional acting roles are Adelaine opposite Nathan Lane in Guys and Dolls and Cheri opposite Divine in the New York production of Women Behind Bars.

French tour guide Patrick Herpe returns to give viewers a live tour of Paris's Luxembourg Garden. The combination of architectural elements, meticulously maintained landscapes, and the overall sense of tranquility make the Luxembourg Garden a timeless and enchanting oasis in the heart of Paris. It stands as a testament to the city’s commitment to preserving and celebrating its cultural and natural heritage. The central feature of the garden is the large octagonal pond, bordered by statues and surrounded by flowerbeds. The Luxembourg Garden is adorned with numerous statues and sculptures, including classical replicas and works by French artists.

VIRTUAL: Happy Birthday, America! (Part #2) -- A Visit To The Smithsonian Museum (*RR)

The Smithsonian Museum -- on the Federal Mall in Washington, D.C. -- is often referred to as the “Attic of America.” Composed of nineteen independent buildings, it is crammed with thousands of treasures that will unlock countless memories for all. In the Part #2 edition, visit the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery, and its African American History and Culture Museum. Peek into the Air and Space Museum to view the Spirit of St. Louis and find out all the drama behind Lucky Lindbergh’s famous trip across the pond. Catch up on the progress being made on the Smithsonian American Women’s History Museum. And marvel at all those jewels at the National Museum of Natural History? The Hope Diamond awaits. Led by avid traveler and library lover Mary Maguire. A graduate of Brown University, Maguire worked for 38 years for the New York City Board of Education, where she created programs for teachers on how to integrate the arts into language art, science and social studies curriculums.

As a history painter, his iconic images, such as The Signing of the Declaration of Independence, continue to be a part of our American culture, as prints during his own time and as seen in the Capitol building today. Explore Trumbull’s continuous striving to capture the heroic moments of the American Revolutionary War. Led by art historian Martha Chiarchiaro, owner of Seeing History.

VIRTUAL: The Truth Behind The Westerns -- Wyatt Earp (*RR)

Wyatt Earp has been portrayed extensively in westerns and other media and subjected to both broad exaggeration, and uninformed debunking. Discover the unvarnished truth, as far as it can be ascertained from historical records. Learn about his family and early life and his years as a peace officer in the Kansas cow towns of the 1870s, including the infamous Dodge City. Explore his years in the mining town of Tombstone, Arizona, as a businessman and lawman in alliance with his brothers and Doc Holliday, his romantic relationship with Josephine Marcus, and the events leading up to the Gunfight at the OK Corral – perhaps the most famous exchange of gunfire in American history -- as well as its violent aftermath. Led by Daniel Seligman, a retired computer engineer with a lifelong interest in the American West, dating from his days as a small child watching B westerns on a 7-inch TV screen in the 1950s. Over the years he has indulged his interests in extensive readings and travels and, since retirement, in the publication of magazine articles and presentation of seminars on western historical figures.

Join Monarch Ranch to learn about the bugs in our backyard and yours! There will be a scavenger hunt where you might see butterflies, ladybugs, and more! Learn about the important roles of these amazing backyard creatures and have some fun in the process. All bugs and critters will be released back into the garden at the end of the event. This event is for children in grades K-5. Registration is required.

Our annual Touch-A-Truck event at Livingston Park from 10AM to 12PM wraps up our Summer Reading program. Join us as we explore a variety of vehicles! Kona Ice will be selling shaved ice Old Mill House Coffee will be selling beverages. This event is open to children ages birth - grade 5. Registration is not required.
