Tewksbury Republicans Oppose Sanctuary State Push

The Tewksbury Republican Town Committee has issued a statement that opposes Massachusetts becoming a Sanctuary State.

TEWKSBURY, MA - From the Tewksbury Republican Town Committee: Today, the Tewksbury Republican Town Committee issued a statement concerning the ongoing efforts of the Massachusetts Democratic Party to make Massachusetts a Sanctuary State for illegal immigrants:

Massachusetts is currently the only state in the union without a fiscal budget for 2019/2020. We’re now more than two weeks past the June 30 deadline. Why you might ask? There’s an ongoing debate between members of the Budget Conference Committee over an amendment that was passed by the State Senate in late May that would prevent local law enforcement from cooperating with ICE. This policy end around makes the Commonwealth a sanctuary state for illegal immigrants.

But this effort should come as no surprise. On page 10 of the Massachusetts Democratic Party Platform it states that “Democrats will fight for becoming a Sanctuary State.”

There are two Tewksbury Democrats running for the State Rep seat in the 19th Middlesex District:

David Roberston (D-Tewksbury), who has joined forces with Senator Elizabeth Warren in voicing their opposition to ICE. Robertson told the Wilmington Apple on July 4 “ICE is disgraceful.” And Mark Kratman (D-Tewksbury), who sought and received Barbara L’Italien’s endorsement. L’Italien is one of the most outspoken advocates for becoming a Sanctuary State and has fought to protect sanctuary status and taxpayer funding for the city of Lawrence. L’Italien helped jam the sanctuary amendment into the State Senate’s budget. Her endorsement is a clear indication that she believes Kratman is the one who best matches her
ideals and principles. Unfortunately, that spells trouble for the taxpayers of Tewksbury and Wilmington.

In June, the Tewksbury RTC unanimously endorsed Pina Prinzivalli (R-Tewksbury) for State Representative in the 19th Middlesex District. Since launching her campaign last October, Pina has been the only outspoken candidate in her opposition to becoming a Sanctuary State. On September 4, we urge the voters of Tewksbury and Wilmington to pull a Republican ballot and vote for the bold Republican voice that will say “NO” to Massachusetts becoming a Sanctuary State for illegal immigrants, Pina Prinzivalli.
