Tewksbury Saw Fewer Car Crashes in 2019 Than It Has In Years
The town saw fewer than 600 motor vehicle crashes last year, down from 760 in 2016.
TEWKSBURY, MA — There were 582 motor vehicle crashes in Tewksbury last year, down almost 150 from 2018. 2019 saw the fewest crashes since 2012, and the second fewest of any year for which there is data, going back to 2007. Crashes peaked at 760 in 2016.
The decline from 2018 in the number of crashes reflects state trends. Across Massachusetts, the total number of crashes dropped slightly in 2019 and 2018 after increasing in each of the eight previous years. Meanwhile the number of crashes in Tewksbury increased from 2012 to 2016, before dropping.
In 2019, there were two fatal crashes in Tewksbury, three serious injury crashes and 62 crashes with minor injuries. 67 crashes had possible or unknown injuries, according to the data. The good news: the bulk of the crashes, 448, caused no injuries.
