Tewksbury Selectman Stepping Down After 10.5 Years On Board

So far, there are no contested races but candidates have until February 20 to submit nomination papers.

TEWKSBURY, MA -- Tewksbury Selectman David Gay won't seek reelection this spring, after serving 10.5 years on the board. His seat and the seat of Selectmen Chair Mark Kratman are up for reelection this year. Kratman has withdrawn nomination papers and plans to run for reelection.

"I've loved being on the board. I just enjoyed all the interaction with different people I've worked with," Gay told the Lowell Sun, which first reported this story. "I'm leaving on a very positive note. I've enjoyed my time and good luck to the next successful candidate."

The election is scheduled for April 7. Candidates have until February 20 to submit nomination papers with 50 signatures for certification. One other candidate has withdrawn nomination papers for the two open selectmen seats. George Ferdinand, whose term on the Board of Health expires in 2019, plans to run for selectman.
