The Merrimack Valley Credit Union handed out scholarships to nine high school students in the region.

From Merrimack Valley Credit Union: Merrimack Valley Credit Union (MVCU) recently awarded a total of $10,000 in scholarships to nine local high school seniors. Samuel Acquaviva, of Newburyport, Mass., received a $2,000 scholarship, while six Massachusetts students and two New Hampshire students received $1,000 scholarships.
“Our annual scholarship fund is one of the ways we give back to the community,” said John Howard, President and CEO of Merrimack Valley Credit Union. “We had so many impressive applicants this year, choosing the scholarship recipients was a difficult task. The scholarship recipients were selected because of their commitment to education and to their community, both in and out of school, and the lessons they’ve learned about managing their money today and in the future.”
MVCU received 178 applications from students at 24 different high schools located across the Merrimack Valley. Students were scored on their academic performance, school and community involvement, work experience, letters of recommendation and their essays about the best lessons they’ve learned about money.
