Tewksbury Town Manager To Approve Outdoor Dining, Liquor Licenses

The Board of Selectmen voted Tuesday to give Richard Montuori temporary authority over outdoor dining permits.

TEWKSBURY, MA — Tewksbury Town Manager Richard Montuori was granted the authority to approve temporary outdoor dining permits and liquor licenses, Tuesday.

The Board of Selectmen voted to grant Montuori the authority until Nov. 1, in an effort to expedite the process to allow local restaurants to reopen under phase two of the state's coronavirus reopening plan. Phase two, which has not yet begun, allows outdoor dining.

Montuori told the board that the town has already received three applications for outdoor seating permits. He is in contact with seven other restaurants, he added.

In normal circumstances, the Board of Selectmen would have to approve each permit. In addition, the state has allowed towns to issue temporary liquor licenses without going through the state Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission.
