Tewksbury Town Manager Presents Goals For 2020
The majority of the objectives, presented at the Jan. 21 Board of Selectmen meeting, are for capital projects and budget and operations.
TEWKSBURY, MA — At the Tuesday meeting of the Tewksbury Board of Selectmen, Town Manager Richard Montuori laid out his goals and objectives for the next year. He presented four top-level goals: capital projects and improvements; polices, procedures and by-laws; land transfers from the commonwealth; and budget, operations and administration. A number of the goals are continuations of goals from last year, which he also summarized at the meeting.
"I know a lot of them are redundant but these things continue year-in and year-out," Montuori said.
The majority of the objectives belonged to the first and fourth categories. The only policies objective is to "work with the board to appoint a committee to review and update town by-laws, and recommend changes as needed." Similarly, the only land transfers goal is to "work with the local delegation to bring to a conclusion the cemetery land transfer."

But there were almost 20 objectives across the other two categories. They included hiring a new police chief, ensuring a successful fiscal year 2021 budget, and beginning construction on the new fire station and new elementary school. Montuori said they hoped to begin construction of the school in March and the fire station in May. The town manager also plans to complete design and secure funding for a new Public Works/School maintenance building and for renovation of the Ella Fleming School.
The full meeting, including the remainder of the goals and objectives, is available from Tewksbury Telemedia.
