Tewksbury U9 Girls Open Season With Three Big Wins

played in the annual North Reading kickoff soccer tournament this past weekend.

It was the first ever travel games the girls have played in. The Little Lady Redmen opened up against a much larger and older North Andover team and held their own on way to a 2-2 tie. Both goals scored by Alyssa Marchelletta.

Game 2 produced our first victory with a 2-0 shutout of Stoneham. Scoring was Kaitlin Macdonald and Tess Barrett.

Game 3 brought victory again with a 2=1 win over Framingham. Scoring the goals were Adrianna Niles and Tess Barrett. Our final game of the weekend was against Wilmington. The girls put everything in order and put 6 big goals on the board for our 2^nd shutout of the weekend. Scoring was done by Lexi Polimeno (2), Makayla Paige (2), Kaitlin Macdonald and Adrianna Niles. 3-0-1 is a great way to start the girls travel careers off. The girls played through intense heat and persevered til’ the end.

Great play was also demonstrated by Alexis Raymond, Julie Figucia, Erin McIntyre and Brenna Cassidy. Adrianna and Brenna were superb in net all 4 games with Alyssa stepping in for game 4 in the second half and giving up nothing. Great job girls, the coaches are very proud of you.
