Tewksbury Woman Killed In Wilmington I-93 Crash Identified
Kristina Lee, 43, of Tewksbury, was hit and killed on Interstate 93 after she was ejected from her SUV, police said.
WILMINGTON, MA — The woman who was killed Tuesday night in a crash on Interstate 93 in Wilmington has been identified as Kristina Lee, 43, of Tewksbury.
Officials said that Lee appears to have been thrown from her car after losing control of it, leaving her in the road, where she was hit. Police had initially said she appeared to have walked away from her car, to the road.
"Preliminary crash reconstruction suggests that the victim, for reasons still under investigation, lost control of her Ford Escape," state police said in a release. "The Escape exited the travel lane and hit the guardrail, then was redirected back onto the roadway. During that sequence of events, evidence suggests the victim was ejected onto the roadway, while the vehicle continued northbound, unoccupied, and exited the roadway to the right and came to rest in the woodline."

Lee was then hit in the road by a Honda CRV. The driver, a 24-year-old Methuen man, remained on the scene.
Police also said that after Lee's Escape was towed to a tow yard, the tow operator reported that it "caught fire and was fully engulfed."
