Weekly Game Recaps

Tewksbury Youth Lacrosse Recaps April 26th Games Tewksbury U13 Red lost a close one today against Arlington White on the turf at Arlington high school. Tewksbury took a 1-0 lead into the 2nd quarter and a 2-1 into the half. With another goal in the 3rd and 2 in the fourth they could not open the lead more than 1 goal through the game. Arlington was able to take their first lead late in the 4th to secure the 6-5 win. Tewksbury scoring was provided by Jake Murphy with 2, and one each for Cole Stone, Sean Fahey and Rory Powers who also had 3 assists from his attack position. Other assists by Daedon Bere and Dan Lee kept the offense moving forward. Trevor Trodden had a strong debut in the cage holding Arlington to 2 goals in the 1st half while Tyler Leeds made 7 saves and broke up plays on his crease to keep the game tight with Arlington’s strong 2nd half push. Strong defensive performances included Jack Panilaitis, Asa Deroche and Jarred LeGrand helped clog up the defensive zone and move the ball quickly into the attack zone. Tewksbury Red is 1-1 on the season. Tewksbury U 15 Boys This Sunday afternoon the boys put together a good effort in their game versus Malden. We started off a bit flat footed in the first quarter and went down 3 to 0, but picked things up in the second quarter and didn't allow a goal. Nicky Iannaci netted two goals in the early part of the third quarter to bring us to within 1 goal. Malden went on to score twice more in the third to put the score at 5 to 2 at the end of the third. As we headed into the fourth quarter Malden started to slow the game by passing the ball around the outside. While we played good defense limiting them to only 1 goal we needed to be a bit more aggressive play being down 3 and then 4 goals. Andrew Farrell had another good game between the pipes only letting up 6 goals on 18 shots. Most improved game over game was Santino Garofalo who really stepped up his defensive play. While we didn't come away with a win the team improved significantly from the first game on their ground balls and team defense. The team started to put some of the offensive plays that we have been working on into play but there is still work that needs to be done. May 3rd Games Tewksbury U13 Red lost to Nashoba Black 7-5 today in Tewksbury. Although Red’s play improved throughout the day there was not enough time left to complete a comeback. Tewksbury executed several very good passing plays and clears later in the game and totaled 17 shots against strong Nashoba goaltending. Red scoring by Sean Fahey (2 plus an assist), Cole Stone (2 including one with 1 second remaining) and Jake Murphy (1) kept Nashoba within sight. Goaltending by Trevor Trodden and Tyler Leeds supported by good defensive performances including Austin Tingtella, Jack Panilaitis and Trevor Lindsey made Nashoba’s job difficult. Dan Lee added a strong faceoff performance and Nick Bobadilla contributed a solid midfield effort as the team continues to dial it in. Tewksbury Red is now 1-2 on the season.
