Tewksbury Zero Waste Day: What to Know

The annual event offers lots of ways to pass along items you no longer need.

TEWKSBURY, MA — Tewksbury’s 8th Zero Waste Day, a drive thru donating and recycling event, will take place on Saturday, Sept. 24 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m at the Wynn Middle School parking lot located at 1 Griffin Way (at the end of Victor Drive).

Zero Waste Day is an annual event providing residents with a quick and easy way to pass along items that they no longer need. More than a dozen local non-profit organizations will be on site at the Wynn Middle School parking lot to accept donations and recyclables. Volunteers from the Tewksbury Recycling Committee and Tewksbury Congregational Church will also be on hand to assist with car unloading and distribution. ZWD results in a reduction of Tewksbury’s dumping fees because fewer items are added to the waste stream, according to the town website.

Items accepted at ZWD include: clothing, shoes, household goods, furniture, decorative items, bikes, building materials, books and media, baby gear, linens, sports equipment, pet supplies, large appliances and tires (off the rim).
