Tewksbury's Sand, Salt Reserves Depleted

With three major storm systems in three weeks, Tewksbury is feeling the hit. Town announced Monday night its sand and salt reserves at the DPW have been exhausted.

While deliveries from salt suppliers are backlogged, the DPW is seeking alternate emergency measures to restore supplies.

Therefore, applications of deicing materials will be restricted to main roads, hills and schools.

Caution should be used on untreated secondary roadways, which may remain slippery until such time as materials can be applied.
