The book recounts how the author, an experienced falconer grieving the sudden death of her father, endeavored to train for the first time a dangerous goshawk predator as part of her personal recovery. Author Visit: The Enduring Legacy Of Henry David Thoreau

Author Richard W. Judd ("Finding Thoreau: The Meaning of Nature in the Making of an Environmental Icon") will tell the captivating story of Thoreau's rise from obscurity to fame through a cultural reappraisal of the work he left behind. Trace the reception of Thoreau’s work from the time of his death to his ascendancy as an environmental icon in the 1970s. Richard is a professor of history at the University of Maine and author of numerous books, including “Second Nature: An Environmental History of New England.” Q&A and book selling/signing to follow.
