As his team went scoreless in several pre-season scrimmages and an opening game, 3-0 loss to Billerica, had to be wondering how long it would take for his young offense to come to life this season.
On Saturday morning, Carpenito got his answer, and it was one he liked. Led by the Redmen exploded for four goals and thumped visiting Lawrence, 4-0, to earn their first victory of the season.
"This was well over and above anything I expected," said Carpenito. "I expected a close, hard fought game. What I was looking for as a goal today was a lot more possession. I didn't expect this at all."

Bain, who earned a varsity letter as a freshman last year, set the tone early when he was taken down from behind in the penalty box by a Lawrence defender. A penalty kick was awarded and Bain blasted it home to give Tewksbury a lead it would never relinquish.
"Getting that first goal was huge," said senior goaltender Alex Bouthot. "It definitely gave us a boost."

Tewksbury made it 2-0 just three minutes later when scored off a pass from freshman midfielder Ron Mallach. It was Hondros first career varsity goal.
The Redmen added two more in the second half, when Bain slotted a perfect pass to a wide open Scott Ripley at the 34:00 minute mark. Bain then completed the rout, on an assist from Conner Morris, with his second goal of the game with two minutes to play.
It was an immediate and dramatic turnaround from Frday's 3-0 loss at Billerica.
"The difference was the guys were moving the ball around much better today," Bouthot said. "They played great. They played hard the whole game."
Bouthot, who earned Merrimack Valley Conference all-conference honors last year as a junior, notched his first shut out of the year.
"I really didn't face many challenging shots," Bouthot said. "They (Lawrence) are a pretty skilled team but our defense did a great job against them."
Carpenito had high praise for Bain's two-goal, one assist effort.
"We've moved him around a little bit lately," Carpenito said. "We want him to learn that you have to work as hard to get the ball as you do when you have it. But people told me coming in that he's got a nose for the goal, and he showed that today."
The win evens Tewksbury's record at 1-1 on the season. The Redmen play at Chelmsford Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m.
