Event to serve as fundraiser for Friends of the Patriotic Activities Committee.

Events such as Memorial Day and Veterans Day are no laughing matters. But Saturday night, a few chuckles will help to make sure that Tewksbury can continue to honor its heroes in style.

The Friends of the Tewksbury Patriotic Activities Committee (TPAC) will host "Comedy Night with Steve Bjork" on Saturday, Aug. 21 at the Tewksbury Knights of Columbus on Main Street.

Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20, and the price includes free pizza, courtesy of Atamian VW Honda of Tewksbury.

"This is one of a few fundraisers that we do each year," said Jerry Selissen, president of the TPAC. "These fundraisers help pay for programs like the Veterans Day activities and the Fourth of July celebration."

The TPAC came into existance nearly 10 years ago, after the town was forced to eliminate funding for events like Memorial Day and Veterans Day observances because of a budget crunch.

The headliner for the Comedy Night is well-know Boston stand-up comic Tony V. Showtime named Tony as the "Funniest Person in Massachusetts" and he has made multiple appearances on HBO, A&E, Comedy Central, MTV and Late Night with Conan O'Brien.  He has recurring roles on "Rescue Me" and "Brotherhood."  He's appeared on the big screen in "State and Main," "Celtic Pride," Housesitter," "One Crazy Summer" and recently had a major role in "World's Greatest Dad" opposite Robin Williams.

The show will also feature the talents of Dave Rattigan and Chris Oak, two talented comedians who work up and down the east coast.

The evening will be hosted by Steve Bjork. According to TPAC spokesperson Maureen Castiglione, the show will be "family friendly PG-13."
