TEWKSBURY, MA — Warrants for the annual and special town meeting articles close Friday at 4:30 p.m., the town said in a press release Monday. The annual town meeting is scheduled for May 4 at 7:30 p.m., with the special town meeting two days later, at 7 p.m. The warrants were opened Dec. 18.

For an article to be inserted into the warrant, a written request must be made by 10 registered voters of the town. "The written request of registered voters for the insertion of subjects in town meeting warrants shall not be valid unless the required number of registered voters not only sign their names but also state their residence, with street and number, if any," according to the state guide to town meetings. Articles for the special town meeting require 100 signatures.

The guide recommends that voters use articles from previous meeting warrants as guides for drafting. The minutes for the October town meeting are available here. The form to submit an article is available here.
