'The Town Is Truly Fortunate To Have Her': Tewksbury Patch Hero

TEWKSBURY, MA — During difficult times like the coronavirus outbreak, some people step up to help those around them. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented times. Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these everyday heroes.

Why do you believe the nominee should be recognized or honored?
As a long time volunteer receptionist at the Tewksbury Senior Center, Cheryle has come to know and love the seniors who frequent there. From booking senior trips, to setting up appointments, to filling in wherever help is needed, Cheryle is there in a heartbeat.

Even with this pandemic closing down normal operations at the Center, Cheryle has been on the go nonstop. Working closely with the center's staff by phone, she has been asked to call several seniors just to make sure all is well with them. But that's not all.

As an accomplished quilter, Cheryle's sewing skills have come in quite handy these past couple of months. She has made countless face masks for family, friends and seniors alike, and has personally delivered them to those who need them.

The town is truly fortunate to have her as a longtime resident.
