On Saturday the girls track team racked up 75 points and third place while the boys team came in sixth place.

Tewksbury High School left last weekend’s Merrimack Valley Conference meet with six individual league championship wins and a pair of strong team finishes, as the Redmen are finding their stride at the right time of year.

Similarly, girls head coach John Byrnes was thrilled with his tema’s performance in the meet, which took place on Saturday, May 18.
“Overall, it was an awesome day,” said Byrnes. “The Merrimack Valley Conference has become the best conference in the state in the last few years. To put up 75 points and grab third place, and the top small school finish, was great. Our staff was really proud of the kids.”
Lindsey Monti and Sara Semenza also had strong meets for the Redmen, finishing in second place in the 100-meter hurdles and 400-meter run, respectively.
On the boys side, Cory Cataldo was among the top performers during the meet. He was second in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 56.14 seconds in addition to his third-place finish in the triple jump, where he recorded a measurement of 41 feet, 8.50 inches.
“Cory has had one of the greatest senior track seniors that I can remember,” said Meuse. “This kid is a tremendous athlete. I would say he is the most athletic kid in the school without a doubt.”
