Traffic Stop Leads To Arrest of Alleged Drug Dealer

A routine traffic stop on Wednesday (March 21) turned into the arrest of a Lawrence man with a history of drug trafficking.

According to an officer pulled over a car for speeding near , around 1:50 p.m. During the stop, the officer discovered illegal narcotics in the vehicle.

The driver, Silvio Lopez, 24, of 12 Butler St., Apt. 1, Lawrence, was arrested and charged with possession of a class B substance with intent to distribute (subsequent offense), driving with a suspended license and speeding.

Security guard nabs driver fleeing accident (March 20)

A Tyngsboro man faces multiple motor vehicle charges after leading police on a chase, wrecking his car and then fleeing the scene, early Tuesday morning.

At 1:42 a.m., an officer reported he was attempting to pull over a white sedan for speeding along Route 38 but that the sedan was not pulling over. Three additional units were called in for assistance.

The original officer reported that he had located the vehicle and it had gone off the road off the 495 onramp. However, when he approached the vehicle the officer found that the driver had fled the scene.

A short time later, another officer found a security guard at a nearby business, who reported that he had detained someone. The man, Timothy J. Karjczyk, 21, 23 Shakespeare Road, Tyngsboro, admitted he was the driver and said there were no passengers. He was arrested and charged with negligent operation of a motor vehicle, marked lanes violation, failure to stop for a police officer, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, speeding and leaving the scene of a property damage accident.

Incidents:

On Friday, March 23, the responded to a brush fire in the area of the dog pound at 65 Pond St. The fire was contained quickly but scorched about an acre.

On Wednesday, March 21, rescue crews responded to a two-car accident at the intersection of Shawsheen and Amos streets. One driver was taken by ambulance to Saints Medical Center and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

On Thursday, March 22, a resident of Heritage Drive called to report that their home had been broken into. Officers responded to the scene and a report was filed.

Arrests:

On Friday, March 23, Matthew B. Friedland, 22, 17 Florence Ave., Tewksbury, was arrested on an outstanding warrant.

On Friday, March 23, Jose Colon, 38, 60 Walker St., 2nd Floor, Lowell, was arrested and charged with shoplifting.
