Wamesit 5th Grade Team Closes Regular Season With Win

Warriors end regular season at 7-7.

The 5th Grade Warriors closed out the regular season on Sunday with a 47-31 victory over Winthrop.

Braden Hiltz was a scoring machine and led the team with 19 points and Kyle Harkins helped lead the scoring with 15 points of his own. Cam O'Hearn, Patrick Carleton and Blake Hiltz scored four each and Tyler Wilson pitched in a bucket.   This game was won in the first has as the Warriors held Winthrop to 10 first half points and had a comfortable 25-10 lead. Team Defense will be the key to this teams success going forward.

With a 7-7 record overall, this team heads into the playoffs as the 5th seed and will meet 4th seed Masconomet.   Earlier in the season the Warriors lost by five to this team so it should be a good contest.

On the season the Warriors were led in scoring by Ben McKay with 114 points, Tyler Wilson 92 points and Kyle Harkins with 88 points.  Braden Hiltz chipped in 66, Scott Mazzapica had 48 and Blake Hiltz tossed in 43 points.    Defensively Cam O'Hearn & Jame Butler led the way as they always seem to get in the right spot.  Patrick Carleton was a key rebounder as he seems to bounce right out of the gym when he wants to get the rebound.   Nathan Ell was Mr. Hustle as he has a motor that never stops running.  Nathan Cantanuso has probably grown the most on the team and has really rounded out his game as this seaon progressed.   Now its off to the playoffs to see if we can create a little March Madness.
