WW 37, Masconomet  23

The young Warriors came out of the Christmas break and picked up just where they left off.  The back half of a home and away series in Masco and coming away with a convincing 37 -23 victory.  Superb passing in the half court game as well as on the fast break were the keys to having all 11 players in the scoring column.  Jack Kelly & Colby Wilson led the way with 6 pts each. Jay Connolly with 5 pts and David Miller and Colby Brown with 4 pts each.  Kyle Zervas, Derek Graffeo, Brennan Rogers, Nick Larsen, Zack Weitz and Michael Polimeno had 2 pts each to round out the scoring barrage.  Of course, it all starts on the defensive end  for the Warriors and it was a tremendous team effort with relentless man to man pressure leading to numerous steals throughout the game.

8th Grade

Salem 56, Warriors 50

The 8th grade ‘A’ Wamesit Warriors from Tewksbury lost a close contest to an undefeated Salem team, by a score of 56-50.  The Warriors led at halftime, before relinquishing the lead late in the second half.  Six players got in the scoring column, led by Justin Derrah’s 27 points.  Nick Dunlap scored 6 points, Ryan Briggs 5 points, Jack Theriault 4 points, including a three point shot. Devan Bere scored 5 points, including a timely three-point basket, and Ryan Bain made a three-pointer.  This was the tale of two halves, as the Warriors in the first half were able to break the Salem press and convert easy layups on the offensive end, along with playing an aggressive help defense to contain Salem’s top scorer.  In the second half, Salem knocked down some big shots, and was able to penetrate the Warrior defense. Andrew White was a disruptive presence underneath for the Warriors, helping create Salem turnovers, and was a force in the middle. Brady Rodgers gave a strong effort, and Josh Asselin blocked a shot inside which fired up the crowd.
