WATCH: Hospital-Bound Tewksbury Woman Gets Mother's Day Surprise

It's been a tough year for Holden Babson's mom, so he surprised her by dressing her best friend up as a nurse.

TEWKSBURY, MA — Tewksbury resident Holden Babson estimates his mom, Nancee Babson, has been in the hospital for 80 percent of the time in the year since last Mother's Day. She's fighting advanced heart failure, cardiovascular disease and stage four chronic kidney failure and diabetes. She also no longer sees or hears well.

Those last ailments ended up being an advantage for Babson Monday morning, when they surprised his mom with a day-after Mother's Day present. Babson made arrangements to have Kimberly Thurlow, his mom's best friend, to travel the six hours to visit her. He had his mom's best friend dress up as a nurse and come in as if she was doing routine rounds.

You can watch the end result, including the surgical mask reveal, in the video above, which Babson shared with Patch on Monday.
