Water Discoloration Notice In Tewksbury

The Department of Public Works is aware of discolored water issues in some parts of town. Due to the ongoing drought, high temperatures, and large number of residents working from home, the Treatment Plant has been pumping an extraordinarily high volume of water. The increased volume and velocity of this flow loosens mineral deposits along the interior walls of the pipe (rust, essentially), leading to slight discoloration. The water is completely safe for consumption, and we continue to monitor and take steps to reduce this occurrence.
