What's Open, Closed On Patriots' Day In Tewksbury
Monday is Patriots' Day, a state holiday in Massachusetts but not a federal holiday. Find out what will be open and closed on the holiday.
TEWKSBURY, MA — Patriots' Day is Monday, April 15 here in Massachusetts. Patriots' Day marks the Battles of Lexington and Concord and the start of the Revolutionary War. It's also Marathon Monday.
Because the holiday falls on April 15, the filing deadline for federal taxes, Massachusetts taxpayers have until the 17th to file their taxes.

- Trash Collection: Delayed one day (Thursday instead of Wednesday. It is a blue recycling week and branch pickup begins in Tewksbury with this week's trash collection).
- Retail stores: Most open
- Supermarkets, liquor stores and convenience stores: Open
- Bars and restaurants: Open
- Stock market: Open
- Town Offices: Closed
- State offices: Closed
- Federal offices: Open
- Library: Closed
- Public Schools: Closed. Monday marks the beginning of school vacation week.
- Post office: Open
- MBTA: All subway lines operating on regular weekday schedule with added service before and after the Marathon. On Marathon Monday, various bus routes on both the North and South sides will be detoured. Due to congestion, bikes are not allowed on any MBTA vehicles on Patriots' Day.
