Wilmington Driver Struck Vehicle In Tewksbury, Sped Away: Police
A Wilmington man is accused of striking another vehicle, then speeding away from police, according to police.
TEWKSBURY, MA — A driver is facing several charges after he hit another vehicle then sped away from police, according to police.
Police were patrolling in the area of 1060 Main St. on Tuesday at 1:45 p.m. when an officer saw a Dodge Ram driving erratically. The truck then side-swiped another vehicle on Main Street.
Police tried to stop the Ram, which sped away. The officer did not pursue the truck due to public safety concerns.

A short time later, police were notified that the truck was parked behind a building at 663 Main St.
Police searched the area and found Owen Cunningham, 47, of Wilmington, in the nearby woods lying under pieces of brush.

He was charged with failure to stop for police, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, marked lanes violation, speeding, and failure to stop for a red light.
Cunningham was released on a promise to appear in Lowell District Court on Wednesday.
