Woman Charged with Cocaine, Heroin Trafficking in Tewksbury

Police recovered over 20 grams of cocaine and 20 grams of heroin during the arrest.

TEWKSBURY, MA — A Lawrence woman was arrested Friday in Tewksbury on drug trafficking charges after police found over 20 grams of both powder and crack cocaine, as well as over 20 grams of heroin, according to the Tewksbury Police Department.

Police say that detectives conducted surveillance and a controlled purchase of crack cocaine from Julissa Acosta, 36, in the Walgreens parking lot Friday. Police later stopped Acosta's vehicle on Main Street by State Street, and discovered hidden compartments which contained cocaine and heroin as well as baggies of heroin, crack cocaine and powder cocaine that Acosta allegedly had in her possession.

Police say that a total of 21.3 grams of heroin and 21.4 grams of cocaine were seized. Acosta, of East Haverhill Street in Lawrence, was charged with trafficking in a Class A substance over 18 grams (heroin), trafficking in a Class B substance (cocaine), and distribution of a class B substance (cocaine).

She was released from the Tewksbury Police Department on $7,500 cash bail, and is expected to be arraigned Monday.
