Women From Tewksbury, Wilmington Named Unsung Heroes

Liz Carey of Tewksbury and Terri Marciello of Wilmington were honored at the State House this week.

From Representative David Robertson: The Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women Unsung Heroines (MCSW) hosted its sixteenth-annual Unsung Heroines of Massachusetts on June 18th. This event was originally established to identify and honor extraordinary women from across the Commonwealth. I’m proud to say that the 2019 Unsung Heroines class included two residents from Wilmington and Tewksbury.

The Unsung Heroines are women who don’t make the news, but make a big difference. Liz Carey of Tewksbury and Terri Marciello of Wilmington are two perfect examples of the women in every community of the state that perform unheralded acts on a daily basis that make our homes, neighborhoods, cities, and towns better places to live. They’ve used their time, talent, spirit, and enthusiasm to enrich the lives of others in their community. They are both mentors, volunteers, and innovators who strive to protect and represent the interests of seniors, victims of violence, children, immigrants, and other vulnerable populations. They are the glue that keeps a community together, and I’m glad they were recognized for their years of selfless work.

The first photo is of myself and Liz Carey being presented with a citation in recognition of her being named an Unsung Heroine, in the Great Hall of Flags in the MA State House. The second photo is of Jeff Hull, myself, Bruce Tarr and Terri Marciello who is joined by her family, in the MA Senate chamber, also receiving a citation in recognition of her being named an Unsung Heroine.
