This workshop will serve as a wake-up call to take ownership of your life. Learn how to manage your personal energy, rather than your time. Laughter Circle

Monday, March 9, 7pm

This program is for all ages. This program combines voluntary laughter exercises with gentle breathing techniques to teach the body how to laugh without relying on jokes or humor. This is a participatory program where we will create moments to laugh in through guided actions. No need to bring a yoga mat--most of the program is seated, with options for standing or gentle movement. What are the benefits of laughter? Mood elevates. Stress, depression and tension decrease. Immunity improves. Lung capacity increases through deep breathing, enhancing oxygen delivery to all parts of the body. Endorphin and serotonin levels rise. Laughter provides an excellent internal massage to digestive tract as well as improving blood supply to the internal organs. People who laugh don’t worry as much as people who don’t laugh. There is no registration required, but please arrive on time. Session will last about 30 minutes.

PURIM PARTY: Learn About The Jewish Celebration

Learn the basics of Purim, an annual Jewish celebration, by participating in a Purim Party designed for all ages. Organized with assistance from the Chabad Lubavitch of Merrimack Valley, the party will include music, food (including "Hamantaschen" cookies), decorations, and a special Hebrew story ("Megillah"). Please note it is customary for attendees of Purim parties to dress up in costumes of their choice. The party will be led by Rabbi Asher Bronstein, who serves as the Tewksbury Police Department's chaplain. This event marks the first in a series of celebrations of different cultures at the Tewksbury Public Library in 2020. Register HERE.

50+ Job Seekers Networking Group of the Merrimack Valley

The 50+ Job Seekers Networking Group of the Merrimack Valley meets from 1pm to 3pm on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month at the Tewksbury Public Library. If you are unemployed and actively looking, underemployed, seeking a new career direction, re-entering the job market after a long employment gap, or recently retired and looking for your “Encore Career”, this networking group program is perfect for you. Did you know that 85% of all jobs are found through networking? Join us in a professional forum for networking with peers in a safe and comfortable environment conducive to developing new relationships and developing skills and strategies to help in your career transition. Each biweekly meeting is facilitated by Deborah Hope, an experienced career coach, and features a new topic. Meetings include a presentation and hands-on workshop on topics relevant to career transition, guest speakers, access to hiring managers, ample opportunity to network, and 1-on-1 coaching guidance. Participating on a regular basis will give job seekers the many tools and strategies needed for a successful job search. This week's topic (March 11) is "Navigating Your Way To A New Career." The meeting will focus on using LinkedIn as a powerful job search tool. Please bring a laptop if you have one. This program is funded by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Elder Affairs, managed by the Massachusetts Council on Aging and supported by AARP. Non-Fiction Book Group: The Cadaver King and the Country Dentist

Join us for a discussion of The Cadaver King and The Country Dentist: A True Story of Injustice in the American South by Radley Balko. An award-winning journalist and the director of the Mississippi Innocence Project describe the stories of two innocent men who were wrongly accused and convicted of crimes due largely to the legally condoned failures perpetrated by invalid forensic science colored by race and class. Books will be available at the second-floor Reference Desk one month before the meeting.

In these 3 interrelated presentations, UMass Lowell librarian & train photographer Ron Karr will discuss the railroad history of Wilmington & Tewksbury, "Trolleys of the Merrimack Valley" author Kevin Farrell will explore the trolley history of both communities, and Earl Hupper, whose family owned the Tew-Mac Airport, will share his stories. BOSTON HISTORY SERIES: Perfect Strangers: Friendship, Strength & Recovery After Boston’s Worst Day

Author Roseann Sdoia will discuss her book, "Perfect Strangers: Friendship, Strength, and Recovery After Boston's Worst Day." As Roseann waited to watch her friend cross the finish line of the Boston Marathon in 2013, she had no idea her life was about to change -- that, in a matter of minutes, she would look up from the sidewalk, burned and deaf, staring at her detached foot, screaming for help amid the smoke and blood. In the chaos of the minutes that followed, three people would enter Roseann's life and change it forever. Learn about these four lives brought together in a deadly moment and how being in the wrong place at the worst time can lead to life's biggest adventures and most important relationships. Roseann Sdoia is a public speaker and advocate for challenged athletes. She is committed to one day running the entire 26.2 mile Boston Marathon. Join us for a fun session of stories, songs, fingerplays, instruments, and gentle movement that help build early literacy skills. Please note, we have 2 sessions that are the same, one is at 10:15am and the other is at 11:00am. There is no registration, HOWEVER, there is limited space in the room.
