Rotarians Jim Fitzgerald, Lisa Roderick, Rick Krempin, Gene Mullen and Barbara Worley set up the station to make the "treat" kits for Centerboard.

This week, the Wakefield Rotary Club completed its project to honor Mother’s Day. Immediately following one of its regular luncheons, the club compiled 33 “treat kits” for mothers living at Centerboard’s Melrose, Lynn and Chelsea locations. The kits included necessities, candy and pampering supplies. Wakefield Rotarian Jill McWilliam explained, “It was important to us that each kit also had a personal note of inspiration. These women have had a difficult time, and we wanted to cheer them on.”

According to Centerboard’s website, “Centerboard provides holistic support to adults and youth in Greater Lynn and on the North Shore facing unimaginable difficulties such as housing insecurity, trauma, exploitation, domestic violence, and substance use—offering not just housing but also a wide range of services designed to help each person heal, gain stability, and pursue a safe and stable life.”

Wakefield Rotary Club Past President Wendy Magire explained, “This is our second project with Centerboard in two years.” She continued, “Last year, we completed a toiletry and feminine hyenine product drive for their residents.” This year’s Club President Kathy Boyle added, “This year we wanted to honor the women during Mother’s Day weekend. I’m very proud our club all pitched in to complete the project.”
