Details Released On Spring Yard Waste Collection In Wakefield

The town is informing residents on when and how to put out yard waste for curbside collection.

WAKEFIELD, MA — Spring curbside yard waste collection will be Saturday, May 16, according to the Wakefield Public Works Department.

Residents should place all barrels and biodegradable paper bags with grass, leaves, and brush at the curb prior to 7 a.m. Plastic bags cannot be collected.

Branches should be cut into 3-foot lengths or less and tied in bundles no more than 18 inches in diameter.

The Nahant Street Yard Waste Site (the “Pit”) is another option for the disposal of leaves, grass, clippings, shrubs and brush, according to the town.

The site is open on scheduled dates from April to December. Permits can be obtained at the Public Works office at Town Hall or purchased online here. Proof of Wakefield residency is required at the time of purchase. Permits must be renewed annually at a cost of $25.
