Road Work On I-95 Will Lead To Detours, Temporary Closures

Overnight closures will continue through this week on part of I-95 southbound.

Detours will be in place.

The Town of Wakefield posted the following MassDOT announcement on its Facebook page:

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is announcing overnight ramp closures at the I-95 southbound (Route 128) (exit 54) Washington Street ramp. The closures will begin on Sunday, July 26, from 11:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., the following morning and will continue each night through Friday, July 31. The closure is necessary to safely and effectively allow crews to perform pavement milling operations.

During the temporary closures, the following detours will be in place for I-95 (Route 128) southbound, exit 54 ramp to Washington Street:

• Motorists on I-95 (Route 128) southbound will be directed to exit 53 (Route 38).

• Motorists will go around the traffic circle and take the on-ramp for I-95 (Route 128) northbound.

• Continue on I-95 (Route 128) northbound to exit 54 for Washington Street.

This work is part of a $14.3 million interstate pavement preservation project on I-95 (Route 128) in Woburn. Appropriate signage and law enforcement details will be in place to guide drivers through the work area.

Drivers traveling through the area should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution. All scheduled work is weather dependent and subject to change without notice. For more information on traffic conditions, travelers are encouraged to:
